Can it be made from a 2 piece surf blank?? Something that can handle tuna 80-100lbs and can cast well??

you can probably find a blank to do this but one thing i would be cautious about is that two piece surf rods are usually equal length pieces and you would be putting alot of stress on the ferrule considering the amount of drag used and the power of the fish. These tuna popping fros that are made by OTI and others is more like a blank with an extension butt and the furrule isin the butt section which has alot more glass in it and the blank itself take most of the stress....hope this helps

I have not been able to see the OTI blanks in person only a 2 short jigging built rods.

What would you say is the overlap length in the extension of the blank?

I've actually built many striper rod blank and added extensions like a bass pitching blank. I always tried to get about 6" overlap on the extension.

The length of the overwrap doesn't matter, all tha matters is none of the blanks are failing at teh joint so it's long enough.

I've actually built many striper rod blank and added extensions like a bass pitching blank. I always tried to get about 6" overlap on the extension.capttrav..
