I was asked by Capt Adam of the Canyon Runner to talk about tuna jigging on the East Coast at Canyon Runner annual seminar at Huntington, LI on March 29, 2008 and I accepted the offer.
I was reluctant to accept the offer because I am not sure I am qualified to do it and it was too short notice to prepare it.
However Capt Adam assured me that all I have to do is to show how I fish and what tackles I use. :) I think it is a good opportunity to introduce joy of jigging to other offshore fishermen who usually catch fish on trolling or chunking.

I am told I join as a part of Basil's seminar. I am honored to join staffs like Basil and Dennis Braid and hope I am not a burden to them. :)

If you are worried about messing up, just give your presentation in Korean.:)That way they will never know what you said and will believe you are an expert.:)

This happened to me once in Mexico. I was told it would be in English, but it was done entirely in Spanish. I understand and can speak a little spanish, but the guy was speaking one hundred miles an hour. When he finished he asked if there were any questions. I asked him "Do you eat as fast as you talk".
Everybody laughed.

That is a good idea. :)
When I fished on a party boat with my Korean friends, one guy next to me asked to speak English as it seemed he was bothered with Korean language we were talked. And I told him he might have hearing problem as we talked English. :)

congrats kil! you will do great as you have experience using many different kids of jigs and different styles.

it is true about the 'joy of jigging'. before i really started trying it i did not really like to use artificials at all, but now i much prefer jigging or throwing lures to baitfishing.

And whatever you do, don't make fun of DB's brand jigs. :)Why shoud I ? :) He contributed many jigs for our mothership trip to Sea of Cortez in 2006 and I like some of Braid jigs for tuna.

Kil, They sure picked the right person to give this lecture. You truly are a world class fisherman and have changed my outlook on a new way to have more fun while fishing. Wish I could be there to attend the seminar.
Aloha.

That was smart of him to think of you to give a talk on jigging tuna. One day jigging may replace bait as the standard way of party boat tuna fishing. And you would be one of the pioneers of that;)

Kil,

They could not have picked a better angler to discuss jigging. I have heard from some that you could jig up a finback whale with the right gear

Don't forget to mention the possibilities of jigging swordfish

I know you will give a fun and informative session, and all will benefit from your willingness to share.

Kil .. although we have fished together many times, I may ask Adam for a "leave of absence" so I can attend your session. I am very happy you decided to join us and I know you will help educate people on one of the most effective methods of catching all gamefish ... see you next week
