Hi all - I'm usually a surf guy, but I'm planning a charter trip and would like to know if anyone out there is catching tuna yet.

If so, where are you fishing out of? If not, when should I book the charter for the best chance of catching tuna? I'd like to make it a late-July trip, if possible. Any recos on boats would be appreciated as well.

Thanks all!

Some years you can hit some bluefins off Long Island within 60 miles (on their migration north to Massachusetts and beyond) around late June through mid-July. I recall last year not being too good though.

Depending on water temps and such, you might start seeing yellowfins at the Canyon by late July, and really heating up in August and September.

Last September into October saw some good bluefin action again within 60 miles as they started to head back south. There were also some good bluefin action at the Canyon in October/November last year.

EDIT: As to a charter recommendation, I charter with "No Time" out of Oceanside. If interested in contact info for this boat, email me at [email protected]

BFT in Cape cod or stellwagon?

As we all know this is a tight lip bunch. I think it is best to network with some captains with the same goals. I will be more than happy to share BFT info. All I ask is that we all do the same. I fish the bank, both corners and cape cod bay a couple of times a week. i want to get a network of captains who fish the cape and area together on the computer and on the water. We can use each others info to benefit all of us.Please respond- [email protected]
