It depends on where the trout were being caught. In the NYC owned reservoirs it's open season year round. However in the streams leading in and out of those same reservoirs. You have the usual season. April 1 through September 30. Also there is no season for any tidal sections on any of Long Island's rivers.
Trout Season
Saw some guys keeping trout last weekend. Contacted conservation and they said there is no longer a closed season. I thought it was catch and release until April 1. Any feedback appreciated....
