Hi folks, today (April 1) marks the official opening day!
FYI: I fished the Connetquot State Park today and the place is loaded with fish! Most fish were caught on #8 Black and Olive Wholly bugger and #17 nymphs! By late afternoon… trout were rising and snaking on dry flies (caddis)!
Lucky fishers with reservations should have a great time!
In addition, yesterday afternoon (Sunday - 3/31/02) I fished the Nassau county / Massapequa Reservoir and caught a few stocked rainbows and 2 yr. Old browns + 1 holdover! Most fish were fooled with 4 lbs. test line / ultralight tackle on Roostertail spinners! Conditions: Overcast / Temp. 55 / Southeast winds - 8 knots.
Saturday afternoon (3/30/02) I also fished Nassau county's Twin Lakes (North Lake) for a few hours and culled several bows and browns! Roostertail spinners and Kastmaster did the trick!
Conditions: Sunny / Temp. 58 / North - Northeast winds
Do we have any other TROUT reports out there?
