I would like to start doing some more freshwater fishing. I was looking to do some trout fishing this april using spinners and bait. Are there any spots that you would recommend? Thank you again rac37 for the info before this post.

Massapequa Reservior

Hello guys, I was kind of wondering the same thing as BASSURF. I live just a few blocks from Mass. Reservior, which I know is stocked with trout every spring. Seeing that I have a little nephew now, I was thinking that this may be a good way to introduce him to fishing. Problem is, I know NOTHING about trout fishing, or anything on the freshwater side, lol!

Any advice and suggestions regarding tackle, locations, times to fish, ect. would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it
. One other question, since again, I am a total rookie when it comes to freshwater. Can you purchase a licence online, or do you have to get them at a tackle shop, village hall, ect.?

Thanks again!

Those smiles say it all :)!

I was thinking more along the lines of freshwater when I take my nephew the first few times mostly because saltwater fishing opportunities for young children from the shore are really limited these days. Best I could do for him would be snappers when they arrive in late summer. I know action is the key when bringing young kids fishing, so it wouldn't be a good idea to take him flounder fishing at one of the local piers, like my dad did for me when I was little .

I can't wait untill he's ready for a boat, though
