Hi all,

I am making a trip this weekend from Jamaica bay to Fire island.
Does anyone know a where I would be able to fuel up in the FI area?

I would also apreciate any tips on things to. The Wife and I will probally be staying at sailors haven. We will be ariving on Sun. and departing on Tue.

I have a 22ft Wellcraft w/a. I am planning on hitting a couple of reefs on the way home.

You can gas up at Frank and Dick's. They are right on the state channel, about a mile west of Captree. Long 5mph zone from Captree to F&D's. He's got good bait as well. I'm sure you can also gas up at Captree, though I never have. (???)

The fluking outside the inlet has been great. You can probably get some weaks early morning, evening on the south side of the bay from the Coast Guard station (by the big bridge) eastward to Ocean Beach.

On Saturday night, bring wine, good food, and a camara. Anchor between the sunset and the lighthouse. Hopefully you can get some warm-light pics of the lighthouse with a purplish sky backround. The big meteor shower hits high gear on the 11th, so the 10th should be pretty good for shooting stars as well. (60+ per hr)

Thanks Mocean, I usually keep up with what is happening in space but I have been so preoccupied planning this trip I didn't even think to see if anything is going on. This will be our first overnigher and so far everything is going great. We will be there Sun and Mon night, peak time for the meteor shower.

I will also take the ride to F&D, and do a little sight seeing of the GSB.
