I came across a box that had some old stuff in it. One was a portfolio from a modeling agency when I was 13 years old. OMG, I looked like I was a size negative one! Then I find my rollerskates! I put them on, they still fit! So now I'm skating around my apartment. I was a little wobbly at first, but then it came back to me so quickly. Within 3 minutes I was doing spins and jumps in my kitchen! You had to see the look on my kids faces...I was LMAO! First off they don't even know what rollerskates are, then for them to see me do tricks.....they were like WOW ma, can't believe you can still do that stuff! To funny!

Yes, those were the days, we would skate 3 nights a week, that was our hang out. Sad kids today will never be able to experience that. High liability insurance put all the rinks out of business. I think there is 2 left in nassua county though.

Might try it out again over the winter months.

drive-in movies

I miss the drive-in movies also, a shame that there are none of them around any more. Parents used to load us into the station wagon and we would watch the movie from the roof of the car. Would could be better then being outdoors on a nice summer night watching a movie from the car !

Yes, my first skates were metal also. But those I do not have.

I just found in that same box my Smurf collection and ice skates.

I hated when the skate would come off one foot cause the skates claw sqeezed the sneakers too tight..........

They always worked better if you wore your school shoes.......

I would have my pops or my friends father drop us off at LACES in Nassau every Sat night.

We would open the Yellow Pages and look for Rinks to visit......ahhhhhh the memories.......
