Looking to plan a 4 or 5 day trip in June fishing my way up the Ct. shoreline to the New London area and then across to Montauk. Going in a 22' Grady. I've heard of some travel guides for upper Hudson area and wonder if anyone knows of such a guide for the Sound. Looking for overnight dockage, hotels, bait shops, etc. If not I'll just call bait shops along my course. Thanks, and a happy and healthy new year to all.

Maptech's Embassy Guide for Long Island Sound

This is a great book - it has everything you want, including detailed navigation tips, segmented navigational charts, waypoints, marinas, sightseeing tips, history, phone numbers, etc. Lots of detail, descriptions, and photos, too.

The book covers New York Harbor, all of Long Island Sound on both the CT and LI shores, Block Island, and the Peconics/Gardiners Bay Area - between the twin forks of Long Island - with coverage for both forks from Orient on the North, Montauk on the South, Shelter Island, and continuing further inland between the forks to Shinne**** Canal and Riverhead.
I just started boating on the Peconics ater many years on the South Shore, and this book has been an invaluable resource - very accurate, great navigational tips, etc. Needless to say, I highly recommend it.

You can purchase it online through West Marine for $44.95:

Hey MickieBelle,
I'm always happy to share what little I know. :) Where do you boat/fish from? I think you'll really enjoy your trip!! Lots of good fishing all the way around. I really love the twin forks, there is a lot to do out that way. I have a 21' Arima W/A - similar boat to yours in size. Well thanks for getting me thinking about the summer, I'm making some plans myself now. :) Go get that book - I think you'll LOVE IT -

Going to go read mine for a while, now. :)

Cheers!

I boat out of New Rochelle and do mostly fluking and plugging for bass in the Western Sound. On my trip I may trailer up to Niantic, Ct. (about an hour and a half drive) and make the 20 mile trip to Montauk from there for the few days I'll be fishing. Depends on what I see in the Maptech guide you recommended. I'll post a report. Thanks again for the info.
