I fish with one guy who uses a 9' TICA graphite surf rod and loves it. I just ordered the same rod and will put the TICA Taurus 6000 on it for my Blitz rod. These rods are good knock offs of the G.L. Loomis series. The quality seems excellent, and who can argue with the price. Any of your local tackle shops can order these rods from Jerry's Sports Center, or Bonitz Brothers in PA. You may even want to try one of the Okuma rods also. These are made in China, but the quality in all of their reels is again top of the line. Good Luck.

tice surf rods

I bought a 7' tica surf rod last fall in Hatteras for use as a back bay rod. It's great workmanship for the money ($54 in that case) BUT the rod was extremely fast/stiff. I heard another fisherman describe his Tica as "stiff as a broom stick." Try it out before you buy if you don't want a stiff rod.
