Noticing that the shifter of my boat was sticking this past weekend making the shift from forward - neutral - backwards a bit difficult. It doesn't snap into the selected gear right away but does not "stick" either as if it just needed a lube. Any ideas of what to look at first? It made for some interesting docking:)

Check you gear shift cable for any signs of wear, cracks, splits etc... All you need is a small split in the outter sheathing and the salt water will penetrate and sitfen up the cable. This is common, just replace the cable.

I had the same type of problem last year. It was the shifter itself. Initially, I had trouble getting it into gear, but was able to. After a couple of trips, it froze on me. After playing with it for about a 1/2 hour, I was able to get it in gear and make it back to the dock, although I couldn't get it into reverse to back in. (that was not a lot of fun). I replaced the shifter, and everything was ok. Old one was really corroded.
