Cross of doom

Hey Megs

I told you if you could'nt make the bash
I would show you my cross of doom rig well here it is
The 2 hooks that are 90 degs to the main leader slide up and down the leader
The fixed hook I stick in the middle of the belly of the crab and bring the barb out it's mouth
The 2 sliding hooks 1 goes in the right rear leg joint the other in the left and you slide them up the leader until tight
The hooks are short shanked so they lay against the shell just barbs exposed makes the rig weedless

Swiming around in the well in the back of the boat conversing

One says to the other "I didnt even bite the stupid crab I just swam by it and bumped it and I end up here" "yea me too I just grabbed a leg and I became a pin cushion;and the worst part about this is "I hate chinese food"

Makomatt

For the hooks I use 150lb test
Manofiliment attached to 4ft 200lb down rigger cable witch is attached to 100lb spiderwire
Yes I use crimps they are easer to use with heavy mono leaders

I fish my rig on any piece
From the fear on the east reef,to the Philips,to ,to 17, the Celtic in the sound and I won't lose a rig.
I might loose sinkers and I might have to bend straighten back hooks to shape but I won't loose the rig or he fish.

theye are tied around the leader- not to the leader with a over hand knot and cinched tight a round the leader.
This makes the 2 hook free to slide up and on the leader to adjust for the size of the crab
With this rig any little tap stick em and reel fast.

That Mitchell looks like a good bottom fishing reel. It looks similar to the Shimano TR200G or Penn 310GTi, which are both decent, inexpensive reels for toggin.

I'd have to say that the rig and tog rod with rollers are a bit intriguing.

Gotta love the pic of the upside down spinning reel - tourist style.
