hey surf...the explorer sounds like it might be good for you. It is a great all around kayak, it is light reasonably fast for its shape. I wear breathlble waders on my kayak with a spray jacket with a seal around the waist, wrist and neck, I could go over and swim around and no water would get it, but if I was going out in some real wild water or going through the surf I wouldnt wear them, Eventually water would get in the wader set-up.
