You can verify a lot of this here:
http://money.cnn.com/news/specials/election/2008/index.html

INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAXES

This is something EVERYBODY should be aware of so they don't get blind sided. This is really going to catch a lot of families off guard. It should make you worry.

Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales

How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN 15% (no change)

OBAMA 39.6%

How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.'

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN (no changes)

Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)

Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750

Under Obama, your taxes will more than double! How does this affect you? No explanation needed. This is pretty straight forward.

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax

How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.

New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already)

New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)

New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....

New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

No he wins a trip to Czechoslavakia with the foreign affair genius.

For the record qlty, no tax increase on income below $250,000 with the Obama plan.

And oh yeah, that record deficit and your kids will pay dearly for the most fiscally irresponsible President in US history.

What are you basing that claim on Bob? Total dollars of the Deficit?

Most bipartisan economists look at economics and debt in relation to the overall economy, so as a percentage of how large this administration and its policies have been able to grow the economy, it is NOT the largest deficit in history.

If you want to do it in straight dollars, that's fine, but we have also collected the most taxes in history, so it looks like the problem is with spending, not collections.

As someone posted in an earlier thread, current deficit is 9 trillion but the real debt facing the country (DUE TO ENTITLEMENTS PROMISED BY GOVERNMENT) is closer to 53 Trillion. Presuming that info is true, it still looks like our big problem is SPENDING, not collections.

STOP THE SPENDING!!!

This is from the CNN voter's guide:

Your Money: McCain vs. Obama

Budget Deficit

Restoring fiscal responsibility is a promise both candidates have made to voters. But both also want to extend tax cuts and create new ones - which could end up significantly increasing the federal budget deficit if their respective revenue-raising and cost-cutting plans turn out to be less effective than promised.

McCain:

· Balance budget by 2013.

· Slow growth in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid spending.

· Eliminate funds for pet projects, known as earmarks.

· Help pay for tax cuts by creating new jobs in the clean energy sector and developing new automotive technologies, which in turn will boost economic growth.

"We're going to restrain spending, we're going to have the economy grow again and increase revenues." -- McCain*

Obama:

· Enforce budget rules that would require that new spending be paid for by cuts to other programs or new revenue.

· Reduce spending on earmarks to no greater than 2001 levels and require more transparency on such spending.

· Help pay for new proposals by drawing down troops in Iraq war, raising taxes on high-income filers and cutting certain corporate loopholes.

"...If we can get on a path of sustained growth, if we can end the war in Iraq, end some of the special interest loopholes and earmarks that have been clogging up the system, then I think we can return to a path of a balanced budget." -- Obama**

Wader...thank you for being the only person willing to speak of the truth. I know that you do not favor Obama but at least you are willing to tell the truth instead of spreading the lies.

Obama's a baby killer.

Give me a break.

To Sortie, no..the Obama campaign does not take the average American as a moron. Most American's get what he means when he talks about change. Obviously...there are those that don't.

You see Skip, you are forgetting the ABB theory (Anyone But Bush!) Tha went over so well in 2004 it how now evolved into "Change". Apparently 3 words were 2 words too many for the Democratic base.

BTW Tizod, I didn't repeat any of the original dribble, I just didn't take the time to search for its source. I did, however, find some of the stuff in the CNN comparisons interesting.
