So it looks like we are going to get paid a visit by Hanna this weekend.

I am really excited about this. I've never been in a hurricane or tropical storm of any kind before.

By the looks of things, when she gets here (NY) she won't have much bite left to her, except for a lot of rain but still..I'm looking forward to my first tropical storm experience

I'm beating I am the only one.

Crap!

I was worried that it was going to putter out before it got here.

Did anyone see the Weather Channel's program "It Could Happen Tomorrow" where they showed a hurricane hitting NYC?

I would love to see that minus all the death and mayhem

Tizod,
Where did you live that you've never seen a TP or hurricane?

Permanent residence in -
Chicago
San Francisco
Los Angeles
NYC

I've also had extended stays (work projects) in hurricane prone areas like Miami and Houston but was never there during a storm.

I was in Boston in a few years back on a 5 month assignment where I experienced my first Noreaster. It was cool but paled in comparison to some of the midwest blizzards I've seen.

I have all the essentials for the storm extra batteries, Coleman fuel for the lanterns, plenty of beer, I have a few diesel batteries on charge right now to operate some low voltage lighting, Hand held 2 way radios, police scanner with wx bandand, if the power goes out for a day or 2 I can get a generator from work
