I took part in a blackfish charter today on the Tautoga with a number of fellow Noreaster's. We headed north towards Conneticut and fished in 70' of water. The bite started right away and continued steady through the change of tide. We pulled a Conneticut limit with several fish to 9-10 lbs and caught and released almost twice that many fish with few shorts. Alot of quality fish were caught. The wind and tide made it necessary to use up to 20 oz. to hold bottom, but the fish were feeding agressively and the weight didn't make feeling the bites a problem. Greenies, whiteleggers, conch, clam and shrimp all produced. It was not a day for picky eaters. We finished up with a few exploratory drops on the New York side. There was not much doing yet. Special thanks to Capt. Mike and mate Garrett for an excellent trip, to Sam for the pork buns and to Ken for getting to the boat on time <like href="http://www.noreast.com/postedreports/view.cfm?id=65275" send="false" show_faces="false" width='layout="button_count"'></like> |
