Icant believe the new Governor only donated a $150 to charity and that was for used clothing. I also also heard that he had over 40 affairs while he was married. How did he ever get into this position as Governor?

Granted he makes enough $$ to donate to charity but I'm not sure it's a requirement. How much does the average guy donate? How much do you donate?

I can honestly admit that I don't donate as much as I should but as a single income household with a 4 yr old son and a stay at home mom living on LI making less than $100K I don't have much to give other than time.

CC - I donate more than the Gov but less than I'd like to as well(I too live on LI and "Donate" too much money to the Govt as it is:rolleyes:). What I find most amusing about this is the fact that he actually claimed the $150 in used clothing
. Had he not taken any charitable deductions at all it would have been a non-story easily explained by saying "I choose not to deduct my donations from my taxes"
. That would have made him look better, as opposed to looking like a cheapskate for only donating $150 in used clothes.:(

That is pretty disgraceful on his lack of donations. What is worse is that he probably attends alot of charity events and it should be in the forefront of his mind to donate and he still did not. I think alot of us dont get in the habit of donating proactively , but certainly ante up when presented the opportunity. This guy probably had numerous opportunities to ante up.

40 affairs ? I heard some numbers being bandied about on the radio , if that # is correct that is pretty crazy.

Maybe he was just BLIND to the plight of people that need charity!!

many of whom are his very own people from his former districts.

he was very generous with the women though... LMAO...

He is doomed.

based on his admissions so far, there has got to be more there, I think the really good stuff is yet to be discovered. probably will have some young girl coming out of the closet with a paternity suit or something soon..

I haven't formed an opinion about the new gov yet one way or the other, but is there some sort of requirememt that significant contributions to charity are needed to qualify? In the new york region it is easy enough to go through his own income on houses, cars and other typical expenses. If he was making millions (see past politicians pulling in the big $ on books and speaking jobs) it might be a different story.
