Who never sharpens their hooks?

I don't do it enough and never do it with certain species, but probably drop a lot of fish as a result. Lately, I have gotten lazier and just buy Gamakatsus or something similar, and just toss them after a few fish.

But even Gamakatsus don't stay sharp long enough. For instance, those Shiner hooks which are great for fluke. Their tips get tweaked after wrenching them out of one fish.

Sharpening all the hooks in my plug bag (surf) is enough to make me give up on fishing plugs. Any idea how long it takes to sharpen 3 sets of trebles without scratching up the plug?

Anybody try an electric sharpener? I have a Berkley sharpener/line stripper, which I never thought could put a great edge on my hooks.

I hear ya, SKATEMASTER......I usually just give the hook one or two passes over the stone to get a good point again. Any more than that, I feel, compromises the shape and quality of the hook point, and unless it's an inconvenience to replace, I throw it out.
