What do you all think is the best mono out there?
I have not tried to many different lines. I usually fish with trilene mono.

Clear Trilene Big Game for inshore, Blue Izor for offshore. Both can take abuse and fish seem to bite them nicely.
Bottom fishing: Good old fashion Ande or Berkley Big Game (this year I am probably going all braid).

Spinning: Gamakatsu co-polymer

Offshore: I have not been in the past 7 years, so I am a bit out of the loop. From what I have heard from my friends that are still hardcore, Izorline is the stuff.

Berkley Big Game I found to be the best and cheapest to fill lots of reels each season. What made my mind up was taking a 100lb mako on a bluefish set up with 30 lb big game.Since that I stuck with Berkley.

YOU CAN USE ANDE FOR ANY KIND OF FISHING. YOUR WALLET WONT SUFFER. GREAT FOR THE SURF AND BOTTOM FISHING.

THANKS ALOT
i happen to love Ande, and the reason for that is because 4 years ago i caught a 175lb tarpon on 15lb test while i was down in florida
Most of the guides in Fla who fish for a living year round use Ande and it has been recommended to me by several as the best for the money. I think it is better to buy a decent low price brand and change it often than to keep a high priced line on the reel a long time.

I used to use pink or clear Ande all the time. But started using clear BG and like it a lot more. Seems to hold up better to brassion.

Hi,

I like several brands depending on the fishing. For example, I like Jinki leader material for bass. I use Trilene XL for fresh water. I use big game for blackfish. For casting a nice limp line which doesn't have a memory.

Each line has it's own good points and bad.

Now I mostly use 100lb Ande on my senators for sharks. Jinki (200lb test) on my 80 and 130 internationals for BF. and some left over unknown stuff (lable worn off) for mackeral. Trilene xl for flounder/fluke.
