As for myself Ive cut at least seven trips and havnt done a full day yet...and my five six trips Ive went on I havnt gone more than ten miles on a single one...

havnt bought any tackle or bait...havnt been to sports authority or any other place for that matter..

Not so much as a sinker...Ive only gone out to a resturant three times in the last two months twice by train and once by car..

But i did stockpile stuff back in the day so I guess you maybe i,m not the norm

Is it just me?

I have been forced to go much further than usual... ER inlet seems dead - only sea robbins, skates, dogfish and short fluke... last year it was pretty good with bass, fluke and blues by now.. but I haven't caught any keeper of bass or fluke yet there this year.
so I travel about 8-10 miles west or east to find bass and blues.. and will be going a few miles south for fluke soon.. so I have been using a lot more gas than last year.

I started cutting back last year. I put the money into the house. This year heating the house ate up more then I planned for. So I'll be fishing less again. I have made 2 trips this spring. I may look into doing some fishing from the surf and Shinne**** canal. I'll be seeing less of the PBs that's for sure.

Trip wise I have not cut back a thing
. Granted generally I don?t go too far and the weather has not been cooperating so far.

I took the boat out almost a dozen times so far, but came back early half of the times due to weather.
(wave conditions)

I am hoping to get a fluke run in tomorrow sometime
, today was a no go

I have 3 vacation days left until June 5 I am asking the office if they will pay me instead of taking days off. I am going on a family cruise in July to the Caribbean so I will do less party boat fishing to help pay my bar tab on the cruise.

I stll have $100 of gift certficated left for Laura Lee if the boss does not pay me for the vacation days then I will use them

over the brink

Haven't even taken the cover off.It will cost me $200 a day to go out.It just isn't in the budget anymore.Especially with the heating costs of the winter still lingering. It is costing alot, just to get to work now. Those kayaks are getting better and better looking every day.

I definitely have cut back on trips. Still making enough trips , but have sacrificed some trips because of cost of gas for my truck. For me to drive my truck and kayak a moderate distance, lets say 80 miles round trip , I am looking at $20 for gas. Not alot compared to what boat guys pay, but for me to have to pay $20 just for gas when I want to hot the road is starting to become prohibitive.

The price is getting ridiculous already and it appears nothing is being done. I keep hearing all this nonsense about market forces at play, but the oil companies are making record profits and everyone else is shelling out alot more money every month for gas.

I am all for capitalism, but this is getting crazy already. When is enough enough ?

See the thread that Sctott started, it seems like the Democrats in control of congress think that the status quo is just fine.
