saycoda,do a search on sites you visit as this has been hashed over dozens of times and you'll find some good advice. Folks have found ways that work for them and differ from others.I use a 36 to 40 inch section of 30 or 40 lb flouro or 30lb Mason with a barrel on one end and a Doulock snap on the other end. To the barrel I'll tie another clinch for the teaser about 8 or 9 inches away, stay away from tying on the tag end of your knot on your main line at the barrel, the knots are not designed to be pulled on from that direction. If you go lighter than 30 or longer than 12 inches with your teaser your teaser will wrap the main line and cause problems. Hooks? Anywhere from 2/0 to 4/0. A 4/0 will hold a 30lb fish no problem if it's forged. You could write a couple of books alone on this subject. Prospector

Teasers

Avoid adding a three way swivel. This just adds more weight and headaches to the rig. You want to keep it simple. Instead of a three way swivel use a simple dropper loop and attach the teaser to it.

The specs I use for teaser rigs is:

The total length of the leader is 37" the distance between the teaser and the snap is 26" and the distance between the barrel swivel and the teaser is 11". If you are going to make your own than you need to start with at least 45" of leader material to make room for the dropper line.
For $3.50 it's easier to buy one. Causway B&T in Wantagh has them in stock. As far as bluefish are concerned, they'll eat anything that moves. Since I don't use wire leaders I avoid usings teasers only when the choppers are blitzing the beach. You will find that these rigs will increase your hook ups during the wee hours of the morning when nothingelse seems to work. My favorite colors are white and yellow.

3-way swivel rigs are best left for deep boat jigging (and even then a dropper leader or loop is usually prefered too).

Haven't done all that well using them ahead of a bucktail. But ahead of a tin or plug they're incredible!

I learned a good teaser rig setup from Milt Rosko last week. It tends to keep the teaser away from the main leader a little better than other methods. I will try my best to describe it.

First take your leader material and tie a pretty small dropper loop in it (as small as you can), then interlock this dropper loop with one end of your barrel swivel. There should be two lengths of leader projecting from either side of the dropper loop. Cut one end to a short length and attach your teaser to this. Cut the other end to a longer length and attach your duolock snap for your main lure to this end. You main line is then tied onto the other side of the barrel swivel.

I hope I explained that OK.
