Just wondering if anyone has made a run to either the Tales or Dip in the last week or so?If so,has the water cleared up at all, and has there been any bite worth the trip?Thinking of running out there this weekend but haven't heard much of anything.Wondering if anyone has been able to raise any blues or whites(marlin)out there yet this year despite the dirty water?Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

I'm all bluefinned out.Looking for some marlin or bigeye. The school bluefin are fun but alittle variety would be nice.Haven't been out in about 2 weeks though, any size to those bluefin in the hole?I haven't gotten one over 40 pounds yet this year, all have been in that 25 to 40 range.Your right though, can't beat that 17 mile run opposed to sixty five to get some action.

no reports

The last sst chart I saw showed some cooler water moved into Tails. Thats a few days old now, no good sst chart posts lately, too many clouds. I did not get out as planned this past weekend so I've been looking for some reports on these areas too, but like you heard nothing so far. I have not yet heard about the results of Babylon Tourny from this past weekend, and if any of those guys ran to the Dip either. I actually don't think too many guys have been out there. Who knows, they could be slamming them and don't want anyone to know. Anyway, in general the reports I am getting are like what has already been posted here.
Save the fuel and fish closer to home, the long runs are not paying off. Wish I could be more help, and will let you know what I hear.

Thanks for the info Freddy and Fisher.

Fisher, where did you get that blue?Nice fish!!Did he hit natural or artificial?Must have been a nice sight to see considering the dirty water we've had.
I was thinking atlantis,a friend of mine heard the same.Heard boats were getting some nice EYEBALLS out there.I guess it's there or the tales for me this weekend, and just hope the fish cooperate.
Anyone else making a trip to the edge this weekend? If anyone wants to leave boat name and channel they monitor I would gladly pass on numbers if i'm into some fish.My boat name is SOLITUDE and I monitor channel 19.

Tunatamer,
I fished east atlantis in the middle of last week. Caught about 10 albies and a pair of eyes. went two for three on the eyes. No night bite at all, but we didn't start fishing until midnight. We hooked the eyes right at sundown and it took us to midnight to land the fish and recover. Heard some boats to the west say they were catching albies.

tails or dip

makomike,
Nice job on the eyes! How big? Sounds like you had a nice trip. What did the eyes hit? That must have been a firedrill in the ****pit, two bigeyes on at the same time?
I thought that was you on the other board but wasn't sure, thought you were from montauk. Are you going to be out there this weekend(tails or dip)?

Tunatamer,
One was about 180 and the other 220. They dressed out at 153 and 187. The two we boated both hit red & purple zucker right at the transom pn flat lines. The one we lost hit a silver psychobed off the center rigger behind a bird.
I fished out of Montauk for the last 25 years or so, but now I'm in the process of moving to RI. Moved the boat this past spring. Won't be doing much fishing until we get moved in October.

The dip on /wed night-thur am

We took a ride out to the dip on Wen night, arrived around 3 am, had a fish on the first line before we could get another line in the water, action was fast, there were lots of yellowfin around, dolphins were swimming all around us, chunked until daylight and started to troll, nothing on the troll. Brought home four YFT to 70 lbs., released others. Some boats had 20 plus fish and were headed home at daybreak and some had nothing. Water was flat calm and it was a perfect night to be in the canyon. Landed 4 for 9 in three hours, long ride from New London.

4-6

I'm hedging my bet for Sunday.
Right now it's not looking like weather will be permitting for me on a day trip.
I am hearing 4-6 in the canyons.
Offshore wind out of N-NE and E this weekend.
Will look at it again tomorrow. Hopefully it will change, otherwise I may have to take off Tuesday.
