I was just wondering if anyone has tried fishing either the Tales or Dip yet or knows anyone who made the run this year? If so any action? Was thinking of making a run out there this coming weekend if the water temps climbed up a bit.I heard there is action at the Hudson but I fish out of montauk and would much rather take the 65 mile ride instead of 110 mile trek.Any info would be much appreciated.

Tails

Fished the tails all day saturday, water was still cool and there where dolphins everywhere most of the day. Tried trolling and chunking with no success at all not even 1 knockdown. I always heard dolphins = fish but not this time, tried dragging clones and hexheads, as well as rigged ballyhoo. Wasnt a bad trip though, stopped at the ranger friday night on the way out and sharked all night until daylight for 3 bluedogs, Hey at least we got to fight something ! Plus it was really cool to see all those dolphins saturday , they kept to themselves for the most part but had a couple swim under the boat.
Going to try the tails again the week of july 4th hopefully the warm weather will continue and bring in some fish. Only saw 1 other boat out there and they did not seem to stick around for very long .

i'll be running in a couple of weeks but Capt. Anothony who is on the cover with the blue marlin ran yesterday to the dip. Haven't spoken to him yet but I should see him later and find out how well he did. Good luck guys.

The Dip

Fished the dip on the fourth . Boated 5 YFT to 80 lbs and The mahi in the attached pic.Large schools of tuna and bluefish where breaking the water all over the place. Lots of life in the area including a large manta ray that swam around us
