About to redo my basementand i wanted to see how you guys store all your tackle at your house. Specificly rods and reels, but everything else also. Pictures of storages systems would be great.

I can't get pictures right now, but for my offshore rods I built a rack using 1.5 inch plastic pipe screwed to strips of wood which in turn are screwed to the wall studs. The rod butts slide into the plastic pipe and the reel acts like a stop, holding them off the floor. On my ishore stuff I just stand them up in a five gallon bucket with a brick in the bottom.

I just built this the other day. Only cost me around $17-18 dollars in material. The "retaining bar" that goes across the rod butts is simply a wooden dowel that I wrapped in 1/4" rope for a bit of a "salty" look. I know...I got a little carried away.

A good space saver is to take a lot of your smaller items, lures, tackle boxes, etc., and store them in your coolers then stack your coolers. Here's a few of my coolers, all filled with "stuff."

Ordered a couple of these for $19 bucks each.
They each hold 16 rods.

They're NEW, high density plastic.

I guess Okuma is changing their displays so this outfit must have picked these up.
Website is baitnhook.net

Hopefully I'll be able to peel that 'Okuma' name off of there. :)

i would not recommend putting any bigger set ups in the okuma rack other then inshore set ups. I have a couple of them they work great for the inshore set ups and just rods but they are pretty flimsy for the bigger rigs.

And speaking of rod holders......

Here's a nice boat set-up I saw on another site made out of PVC and starboard. Probably add another starboard support midpoint between the other two for rigidity....the one in the pic looks like it could get a little 'springy', but nice idea nonetheless. Probably more 'inshore' than 'offshore' but hey....this is where this thread is.

Maybe even attach to the gunnell with hard-core velcro (all velcro is NOT created equal), add a hand-hold and you could transport from home to the boat....Vóila!

Like I need another project. :)

Tackle storage

Here is something a whipped up one afternoon to try to get my rods off the ceiling and into a vertical holder. Pretty cheap to do and works great. Holds 12 offshore set-ups. Those are 70VS's. Haven't dug the other reels out of storage yet.
