STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 18 (UPI) -- The Swedish government hasn't decided yet whether to deport two Iraqi Kurds who were jailed for sending money to terrorists in Iraq.
The two were supposed to be deported after sentencing but they applied for permission to remain in Sweden and have now been released on parole, the Swedish news agency TT reported Wednesday.
Sweden's appeals court sentenced the men to jail in 2005 after they were convicted of sending money they collected in Sweden to the Islamic terrorist organization Ansar al-Islam in Iraq.
A Justice Department expert said the men remain under supervision for the next six months and must report to police five times a week.
