Surf to Sumit Fishing Seat Restoration

My "tall-back" fishing seat (black) is in great shape but it is faded by the sun. Has anyone ever tried to dye or use any other product to restore the black color. I'm hoping someone has some suggestions so that I dont have to spend $100 on a new seat. I'm concerned about how water proof it will be so that I dont ruin any clothes. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Mako841,

Thanks for the information, unfortunately I went out and bought the "back to black" and it did not work for me. I think it would work great on plastic but my seat is made of a fabric of some sort. Any other suggestions?

I was just looking at my seat the other day and noticed its beginning to tear apart

Its been sun bleached and salted for 10 years now!

It will have to make it thru a few more years because I'm not spending any $ on it this year.
The wallet has been officialy closed for 2008 :)
Hunkering down and tight fisted with my bucks is my motto these days.

I think I've got a pic of the weather beaten old scow...
can't believe I've had her for 10 years already!
Life is going fast...

I here you PaddleOn!!! I dont want to spend any $$$ on a new seat either. Guess I'll just have to live with it. I'm going to try a sail making canvas shop to see what bright ideas they have. If they give me a good suggestion I'll post it just in case anyone else has the same problem and wants to address it.

:)Well I found something that works! I went to Michaels Craft Store and found black permanant fabric paint. It came as a "spray on" and as a "pump spray on". It worked great! The seat looks brand new. If anyone else has this same problem and it bothers them then this is the solution, otherwise just live with the faded look.:)
