I just bought a 10 ft. St. Croix. rated for 6-20# test. Looking for a spinning reel to match it up with, was going to go with possibly a Penn 6500 or 7500, what do you think? Thanks for the info.

Hi.

In the Penn catalog the 6500 is rated at 15 # test line and the 7500is rated for 20 # test line.

I would take your new rod to the store where you might buy the reel and ask to try the reel on the rod. See how it balances in your hand.

I Have a St. croix 10ft and used a
Penn 6500 with 30lbs Fireline.
The Rod and reel feel balanced and
it had more than enuf power to reel
in any size striper.
I feel it is a great set-up.
I only use it with lures.
Poppers,bucktails,tins,swimming plugs.
