I am fairly new at it, but I can tell you it is a lot of fun and the bluefish will definitely cooperate. Bass are a little trickier. Actually I have caught a lot of bass on fly but they tend to be on the small side. Bluefish are a blast and a great way to get started. Any beach, dock, or point where you would cast for blues will work with a fly rod. Beaches are great because you have more room and can roam up and down looking for fish. On the North Shore, beach action is great all along the Sound. Use an extra long hook for the fly or tie on about 6 inches of wire or you will get bit off alot. There is nothing difficult about it and it is a blast.
