I plan on surf fishing in Wrightsville Beach /Masonboro Inlet the week of 4/20/03. There is also a new pier to fish from in wrightsville beach. I plan on using light spinning equiptment with artificials. I have never fished there in the spring. Any info about this area would be very helpful !!!!

one of the first things I would do is check out the pier on Wrightsville beach, I believe it's named Johnny Mercer Pier. By mid april there should be some life there. I think they sell shrimp and squid for bait. It might be a good idea to bring along a fairly long surf rod to cast further out since the low tide comes out to almost the end of the pier. Why not bring some "yankee" bait down there like some clams and sandworms (they don't sell that)if you can keep them alive long enough. And if the surf scene is slow, I recommend a 20 minute drive to Carolina Beach. There are a few party boats there that bottom fish out in the gulf stream for grouper and snapper. Enjoy your trip and tight lines!
