Hi-

I just sold a 7' Lami BL7040 to another Noreaster. I am going to be shipping the rod, but I am at a loss as to what to ship the rod in, as well as where to get something to ship it. I went to two post offices and a UPS Store by my house, neither had anything suitable to send a rod of this length.

Anyone have any ideas? I have never shipped a rod before, nor have I had one shipped to me, so I have no idea what to send it in. Thanks for any advice, I want to get the rod to this gentleman ASAP!

stop at a carpet store and ask or do like i did look behind it for and empty roll worked great.i shipped mine to rhode island its a little costly once you go over a certun size.i also marked the butt end[open here] so they could remove it instead of by the tip.

Go to your regular B & T shop and see if they have a used cardboard shipping tube that some rods might have been shipped to them in. A lot of shops will usually have one laying around.

If is still has the end caps on them, all the better. Wrap the rod in bubble wrap or or old towels. Insert in cardboard tube, and fill with those styro "peanuts". Staple the end caps on and ship.

Guys, thank you for all the suggestions
! Think I'll go with a piece of PVC, I may have a piece lying around the house that would work. If not, I'll try my tackle shop and see if they have any extras from a shipment, as was suggested. Thanks again!

The PVC pipe is heavier than cardboard and when weighed will cost you more to ship.

I have shipped many rods, i bought boxes that were a bit short, long rectangular boxes. I had to cut the tip off of a 2nd box and tape it to seal off the top of the 1st box so the rod doesnt fall out. 2 peices are so much easier let me tell ya!!

Good luck Jay

Hi Jason,

Down the road you are going to cry over the fact that you sold that rod. Remember what I just said. At least you sold yours. I gave mine away. But I have another blank stashed!

If you need a shipping tube call me.

Hi Neil!

Yes, it sure is a nice rod, and I'm glad someone was willing to buy it off me ( can't believe you gave yours away! Talk about generosity :)!). If I'm feeling a bit sad over selling it, I'll just get another LIS rod to make it all better ;)! Or, I'll find the time to get out to you so we can design that Lami
.

I'm going to try a few carpet stores in the area, as was suggested. If that doesn't work, I'll bug you for a tube ;). Thanks for that!
