I understand the powers to be are looking into several sites to dump surpluss subway cars on the south shore to form a reef but none in the sound.Anyone have any info on this?It came up at my clubs last meeting

Yeah, last time the "powers to be" pulled this stunt off, they sunk NY trains in Virginia or somewhere.....but it wasnt off the coast of LI.

Our local government.

Doesnt anyone in our local government fish? We keep getting hosed on everything related to fishing.

Contact the new york state DEC through their website under artificial reefs program. Did so yesterday with a question on Sound reefs and received a reply today. Presently there are no reefs planned. The many years long Long Island Sound Study is apprently the determinant and it is based on at risk fish habitats.

Instead of wondering why the project doesn't have support of your politicians, get on the web or make a phone call and ask them where they stand. It takes 5 minutes. The main reason these issues don't get political support is probably due to indifference and lack of involvement.
