Nothing is worse than being at work when you wish you were fishing, but dammnit at least have the a.c. going in here. Boss has had 2 twits downstairs working on this thing for 6 hours now and no change. Not even this fan is helping. Just wish I was knee deep in saltwater and casting off.

Works for me,
our shop is not air-conditioned.

The offices and assembly areas are, but I don?t spend much time there.

They just got the a.c. working again.

See the thing is our side of the building faces east and it's a steel construction, so we basically cook in here if we don't 'jack the a.c. controls and plunge it to 67 degrees. Anyhow, I know there are things which are more serious than a.c. but man, did it tick me off.

A few years ago we had the building AC crap out for a WEEK during August. My data center was on SLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWW down because of the heat. Systems crashing, data loss...man it sucked to be me. Now at my current Job, I have a back up unit that stays on
...Man it's cold in here.

Only 80° at my desk now, a little sticky but that?s ok. It helps that I wear shorts to work. ;)

That might come back and bite me later as I had to do some welding this morning for a couple of hours.

The welder called in this morning (his mom died last night) and being it is the last day before shut down stuff had to get done and shipped.

Got to go weld some more now, this time I will cover the exposed areas

Go buy a cheap pair of jeans before you start welding again!

No need Mike, all it was some small s/s parts and a lil? sit down TIG welding. I covered the tops of my legs with an old shirt this time. ;)

I learned my lesson as a dumb early 20 something year old. I MIG welded a bunch or CRS frames outside on a hot summer?s day wearing only shorts.

Boy that was a mistake

Speaking of air-conditioning, the roof top unit that cools the offices upstairs is making a ?banging? noise I am told. It was just fixed (burnt up power relay) a few weeks ago and the guy who fixed it said that maybe the old mercury thermostat (hard ?on-off?) caused the problem.

The unit itself is old and probably will need to be replaced, but at about 15-20K we will keep putting Band-Aids on it for now. Heck if it dies it won?t bother me one bit, but the office folk will get testy I am sure.

I can always let them borrow my fan,,,, ;)

Us "office folk" are sensitive that way.

It could be either the fan motor or the compressor. Working on a rooftop unit in the summer really sucks.

Whichever it is, it's gonna cost a pretty penny.

Welding tans i weld everyday with a tshirt on you have to get used to it

You can do a LOT of damage to your skin doing that. Much worse than sunburns. You really should think about putting on a long sleeve shirt when you weld.

I keep the a/c on really high at work.

It helps to keep things perky
