I HAVE A 6' 6'' (MEDIUM/HEAVY ACTION) CUSTOM DAIWA ROD WITH A PENN BEACHMASTER.. ITS IS SPOOLED WITH 20 POUND TEST MONO. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE COMBOS AND I USE IT MOSTLY FOR FLUKE AND ****TAIL BLUES. I WAS WONDERING IF THIS COMBO IS STRONG ENOUGH TO LIVE LINE A BUNKER ON? IF ITS NOT, IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO HOLD A 20 POUND STRIPER, WOULDNT IT? ON THE ROD IT SAYS SPOOL WITH 16-30 POUND TEST LINE. WOULD I BE ABLE TO CAST WITH A 3 OUNCE SINKER AND A BUNKER CHUNK AND FIGHT A 35 INCH STRIPER? IF YOU CAN, PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS, AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE THE SAME COMBO, OR SAME ROD, OR REEL. THANKS... TIGHT LINES, LOOSE DRAG!

Are you fishing this rod combo in the beach or pier or jetty? If you are fishing on a beach, I would say no! If you are livelining a herring or some kind of bait on pier, yes! I have a similiar combo. I use a 7', 1 piece rod, a shimano reel, 30# big game, and fish on pier with live eels.

You combo could catch big stripers. All the tackle in the world will not guaranteed you a big fish if you dont know how to master it. I have seen people fish with a 130# combo used for ocean fishing for marlin and instead use it for stripers. Of course they dont seem to have fun playing with the fish because they got bloomstick tip for rod and cannot feel nibbles from fish.

Have fun! Maybe I will meet you there in the beach or pier one day. :)
