Like a soft plastic bait - is what it sounds like. Shad bodies, fin-s etc.
They're good in the river too - as long as there's no blues present.
Is that what you're talking about? Because - you could just change the weigth of the head. If it's one of those "hook already in the body - no additional assembly required ones" - try adding some split shot to the line ahead of the lure to give it a little more weight. Becoming a big fan of split hot these days. Many applications. Kinda the "duck tape" of the fishing world.
Although - if it's only 1/2 oz - you'd have to add a lot of additional weight for south shore.
Probably better in the back bays/inlets down there.
