Would like some info on fishing Breezy Pt.in late spring thru the summer. Is it worth the long walk to the Jetty if you don"t have a four wheel drive Permit? I like to use artificials for Stripers, blues, and Weakies.I have fished there in the fall with some success but never in the late spring or summer. Any info on tides, lures, Moon Phases, would be extremely helpful!!!

Breezy Point

This past spring I caught more stripers over 30lbs at breezy then ever before. If you want to catch quantity, then the walk to the jetty will be worth the fishing(top of the out going tide). I work the rip of the jetty with 1 1/2 ounce buctails with porkrind. Try working the sides of the jetty with storm shads (they seem to produce when nothing else will). If you want to catch cows park your car in the jetty parking lot and walk straight across to the beach. Walk the beach and search for the bunker schools and snag a few. I usually fish 2 rods, 1 dead stick with a bunker head on a fishfinder rig, the other rod with a live bunker. Last season I was landing large bass during the first week of April, I expect this season to pick up considerably later. Hope this helps, Good Luck.

spring fishing breezy

I too am new to fishing Breezy point this spring but did extremely well last fall (2002). I was out there this past weekend 3/9, and noticed the beach was loaded with shells (opened). Needless to say the stench was there but when we started field testing some new equipment- we were snaggin clam bellies on ever cast on the bay side and beach side. I can only imagine if this was a month from now - how many monsters would be hangin by the rip. Breezy converted me from a bunker slinger to a yozuri / gibbs fisher.

Good luck and tight lines!
