Creeping up on the spool?
Hi Flukinfool,
I don't really understand your problem. Do you mean when you make a cast, as the line goes out and gets down to the knot it starts catching on the knot? How much line do you spool up with? If your casting out a 125-150 yards of line, congratulations. I know its not that unusual, but that is a very nice cast.
The uni-to-uni is a very small knot that shouldn't catch on your line. You can trim the tag ends nice and close so they don't catch. If that doesn't work, what I do is initially spool up with a 300 yard spool of line. Because braid is so thin you will still need backing. As I wittle down line from retying and the dreaded snags, I will tye in a new top shot that is usually about a 100 yards of line. The uni-to-uni works well here too, and goes through the guides fine.
