SPINNING ROD FOR JIGGING COD!!!!!!!!

Okay
I got this extra Lami GBT841XH.
I'm thinking a 1 foot extension
4 or five high frame Fuji sic spinning surf guides

Match with one of these reels
VS 400
VS300
Stella 1600
Penn 9500SS
filled with 65lb Power Pro

I see my self flinging 10 to 12 OZ jigs spining style down at the Bank.

Ok fellas am I nuts or should I start wrapping.

Hi,

I think you may have problems with deep water. I am not sure but I would bet it will take you more time to reach bottom. Sometimes I see a few people using spinning gear but never the regulars for cod.

Good point also. I just can't imagine all that force being applied to the bail system using a 20oz jig. It's probably better then a hand line but that's about the extent of it.

I would build a nice 8' cod rod and match it with a penn senator, newell or progear.
