You can find a detailed explination of it in "Advanced Custom Rod Building" by Dale Clemens. There are also many diagrams of other helpful rod building tools. It's more than worth the money!!!

There is also a new "vertical spine finder". There is a picture of it in the present Clemens Tackle catalog. It is Stock No. 60-39-03. Price is $39.95

I have one and is very easy to operate.
