I got out spearfishing yesterday morning for the NY Tog opening day, dove the with my buddy Whalen and my dad, Captain Bill. The sound was a bit choppy but the underwater conditions were excellent at 68 degrees with visibility ranging from 8-20 feet. We hit a few different spots, and found some nice fish, selectively hunting 7 togs between 17 and 22 inches with the speargun and pole spear. We also saw plenty of schoolie stripers and surprisingly some really nice big blue crabs, a good sign for the future. We finished the morning with a few porgies on the R&R and got back to the dock before noon.
