Welcome to the 1996 South Jersey Tournament Season!


Over the years, our tournaments have become known not only for their integrity
competition and opportunity, but for their hospitality and dockside fun
as well. We believe that our events give you more bang for your tournament
buck than any others on the East Coast. From open-bar captains' meetings
to dockside dining, our professional staff takes pride in making each tournament
a special and enjoyable affair.

In addition, our two full-service facilities, South Jersey Marina and
Canyon Club Marina, offer first-class accommodations and will assist you
in keeping your boat in competitive condition at all times. If you have
any questions about dates, formats, service, or entry forms please feel

16th Annual $15,000 Shark Tournament

The First Major Big Game Fishing Opportunity of the Season-

Join us for the Super Bowl of shark fishing, the 16th Annual South
Jersey Shark Tournament.
Officially kicking off the big-game fishing
season in Cape May, the South Jersey Shark Tournament had become the premier
event for shark fishermen from up and down our coast. Hosting more than
1000 anglers annually, this tournament is structured to provide participants
with the best possible fishing times, lucrative cash prizes ('95 total
prize money $115,500) and an equal chance for boats of all sizes to compete.

If you enjoy fishing makos, tigers and blues, then you will certainly
enjoy this event. The fishing is usually "turned on", the competitive atmosphere
exciting and the dockside hospitality second to none!

The entry fee is only $395.00 per boat and entitles you to all dockside
activities as well as eligibility for tournament prizes. There are a limited
number of slips that will be available at South Jersey Marina and the Canyon
Club for the Shark Tournament. Transient rates are $1.50 per foot, per
day x 4 days minimum.

We expect a large turnout again this year, so make your reservations
early to guarantee your spot.

2nd Annual Blue Marlin Invitational

July 11, 12, 13, 14


The prestigious battle for the blues-

If you enjoy the pursuit of big blue marlin, then you'll enjoy this
prestigious battle for the blues.

The month of July presents us with some of the best big blue marlin
fishing that we see- and that's exactly what this event will focus on.
Be prepared to pull the "big stuff" and have lots of fun (all activities
take place at South Jersey Marina - Captains' Meeting, Crab Feast, etc.,
etc.) Naturally there will be great prizes, lucrative calcuttas and super
dockside hospitality and entertainment.

This tourney was a lot of fun last year so request an invite early to
guarantee your spot! (Only 25 transient spaces are available at South Jersey
Marina for this event!)

1996 Viking/Ocean Showdown

July 17, 18, 19, 20, 21



The War Offshore


The 1996 Showdown will bring together these two leading manufacturers for
the 7th time to see which one will capture the title of top fishing team
of the year. The bragging rights for '95 went to the Viking team, captained
by Pat Healey, which edged out Ralph and John Leek's Ocean team to lead
the series 4-2. However, the Ocean team had vowed to make 1996 the beginning
of a long winning streak.

This bill fish release tourney is made up of Viking and Ocean owners
who enjoy friendly competition and lots of fun. Team members will be the
guests of their respective manufacturers and are treated to nightly dinners,
****tail parties and other dockside activities- all adding up to four great
days of fishing and fun for owners, crew and family alike. The Showdown
is open to all Viking and Ocean owners but is limited to 25 boats on each
team. If you are interested in being a member of your respective manufacturer's

Mid-Atlantic $500,000

August 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23


The Richest Big Game Fishing Tournament in the World

$1,122,500 in prize money was paid out in 1995 which made the Mid-Atlanitic
$500,000 the richest fishing tournament in the world for the fourth straight
year! Add to that five nights of super food and drink, entertainment, The
Billfish Foundation's Mega Marlin raggle, Guy Harvey and other great surprises
and you have the best time possible in tournament fishing. The Mid-Atlantic
is structured to give participants three fish days out of a possible five,
captain's choice, and is fished according to IGFA all-tackle rules. There
are no limits on number of lines, types of teasers, etc. , and no boundaries-
only those rules necessary to assure fair competition.

If you would like to be a part of this Million Dollar Tournament, you
should request an invitation ASAP- slips will be allocated on a first to
pay, first to be accommodated basis and space will be limited to a field

1996 Tournament of Champions

September 6, 7, 8, 9, 10


The Champagne Tournament-

Winners of more than 25 selected billfish and tuna tournaments are
invited each year to come to Cape May and compete in this prestigious event
that decides who will have the honor of being the best of the best for
the season. Only the top winners of these selected tournament are extended
incitation to take part in this competition which consists of three divisions
White Marlin, Blue Marlin and Tuna. The winner of each division will be
heralded as the top boat and crew for the year and will receive the coveted
gold and silver medallions which symbolize excellence in our sport.

Add to that our great hospitality and entertainment, free-flowing champagne
and lots of dockside fun and we're sure you will want to be here for this
renowned event.
