All my friends who fish the Western Sound...I would be coming from Central NY state ... east on Rt.17... what is the closest fishing area with a good year round ramp .. would it be the City Island area or closer to say PortChester or Connecticut...I usually go to Raritan Bay[Jersey side] but I am looking for a saltwater area a bit closer to Upstate./... any good suggestions?? Don't forget I'll be towing 3,000 lbs worth of boat,trailer,equipment.... I greatly appreciate any advise you can give me ..... **sniff**... I wanna live near saltwater like you lucky stiffs do.... **sniff**......bob

i keep my boat at glen cove marina .he has a crew of guys that can put you in the water and he cares for transients.last week he had quite a few of these off shore racers drop in from his marina .give joe wiser a call if this helps you tell him you were reccoed by me vinny fiscella.his # is 516 759 3129

bulletbob, if you are looking for good area to drop boat in and out then Mamaroneck is about a straight line from the Tappen Zee. Just take Mamaroneck Ave to end and you'll see bait shop and ramp right there. Also some of the best fishing on the sound.
