So whats the white stuff?

775 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Crazy-Al
I as planning to go out tonight given tonight has the only decent forecast but now that the mysterious white foamy stuff is washing up on the beaches it looks like my plans will have to be postponed. Anyone have an idea of what that white stuff is?

Space,

That "white foamy stuff" you are referring to is weakfish sperm (after spawn)!

Those fish should be very active when they are done doing their thing. ;)

Hi DoctorFish,

Hmmm… You have a very compelling argument there and now you got me thinking really hard! :) However, the area where Space is reffering to is not on the "Ocean" side… it's in the bay where I've been culling some impressive weakies for the past few weeks. Also, a good friend of mine caught a 9lbs. male weakfish and it skirted lots of white milky stuff all over him.

In addition, late last week I fished the North Shore grounds (Northport area) and we nailed several double digit weakies and they were full of roe! That is why I am assuming that those weakies spawned during the June "new Moon" phase (common ritual). That is why I am assuming that "the coast just got hit with a bad case of premature ejaculation!" ;)

Anyway, does anybody out there think otherwise? If so, let's hear it.

DoctorFish,

Darn...

My high hopes were just deflated and I was getting the entire weakfish arsenal ready for tonight! :(

Oh well, but that is not stopping me… I've got to see it for myself. ;)
