snook blank

not trying to be wise or anything but 65lb braid sounds like way overkill.A 40lb snook is quite an accomplishment and quite rare, I must assume he is fishing on the East Coast not the West for sure where the average size is around 15lbs.
Most rods in my area would be something like a GUSA SW70M or 70MH, even the B70M,once you get beyond that casting light baits and most snook are caught on sardines, threadfin or even white bait becomes quite difficult.
Just my thoughts on the matter

How about a St. Croix 2M610MF - out of their Muskie line? I use mine to jig bass and bluefish with a Calcutta 400 on it - no problem at all pulling on biggie bluefish. Casts very well too.

I use that set up for cobia & kings when I go down to the keys lots of fun..That little calcutta 400 has great drag..
There is a place down there that makes blanks just for fla fishing. The blanks are called Estfin I have built on a few ..I think the make a nice blank you may want to check them out..But than again cant go wrong with a GUSA
