Hey guys, i have been doing allot of snagging recently, and this has happened to me twice. The handle just broke off my reel. Any suggestions for a good snagging reel. BTW do sabakis work on bunker?

pick up a Penn slammer and match it with heavy rod that you can still cast with. i went through 2 stratics before realizing that snagging was blowing them up!

for bunker buy a weighted treble or thread on an egg sinker before you tie on the hook.

sabiki's work well on shad.. sometimes hard to tell te difference.

Bunker are plankton feeders.. shad like small baitfish etc.

The sabikis are murder on hickory shad and small macs, etc. Great for getting some live bait. Try tossing them near some pilings on your way out one morning, you may be surprised at what hits. And if you want to fool around or have some fun with younger kids, take a sabiki rig, with a tiny piece of squid, and you have a killer scup rig that can get 5 hits at once. Actually, trim the dorsal fin and scup are a great live bait as well but get a sabiki rod for that as well as one of the small dehookers. They are worth it.. Those guys are murder on your fingers if you are in a hurry.

i have never tried sabiki rigs, think i could catch smething other than snappers and porgy on them near mamaroneck. do you live line snappers and porgy jsut like bunker?
