Kicking off our tournament season in two weeks with Sj Shark again-this year with Blinky IV. Anyone else headed down to Cape May to fish it? I've done this one a few times and it's always a good time...Here's a few pics from our last few shark tourneys...Hope everyone has a safe and successful offshore season...

South Jersey Shark Tournament

Another Freeport N.Y. based boat, Blue Marlin, will be heading down this year as well. We will be docked at the Canyon Club

Have a safe trip and we will see you guys down there.

Good luck guys!

Nice to see more & more LI boats making the trip down for such a great tourney. Seems like we were the only LI boat down there in 2002. We took a chunk of NJ $$$ back home to LI that first year and that wasn't the last time either...

This is the first year since '02 that we will not be fishing SJ Shark. Family obligations require us to stay close to home so we're fishing Star Island instead. Not a bad consolation...;)

Enjoy the tournament, catch 'em up & be safe!

SJ Results

Well, Team Blinky went down there and went for it. We found a mako, about 130 pounds on day one, which we released. That was it.

Day two we managed another mako, two blue sharks, and an in-the-money thresher, that got wrapped, swung its tail over the cable and 80-pound main line and sliced it clean. That's fishing.

In all, there were no qualifying makos out of the 200 caught and no qualifying blue sharks-both categories have a 200-pound minimum. A 582 thresher was the largest fish along with a 347 thresher, a 308 hammerhead, and a 200-something hammerhead. That's all the fish that were weighed and qualified.

We had our chance, just didn't get it done this time.

It was good to see other LI boats there including Oceanic (good seeing you Capt. Larry and Aurora) and Blue Marlin.

We'll see what next week's tourney brings.
