Moriches fishing...

Great area for boating and fishing! High traffic area east to west, so be warned if you anchor in/near the main channel, you will have a fun ride all day long.

Best fluking/blues will be drifting far south of the channel near the west side jetty rocks and bird island across the bars, where there will be less traffic and better fishing.

Gary and his family have been running this station for a long time now and do a great job. He wants his fares to catch so he will point you in the right direction. Can't go wrong renting a boat and motor from Silly Lilly.

Summer Bay Boat Fishing in Moriches

It's the best that I've seen in YEARS!!!!!
Many fish are in the 19-21 inch range. Some are larger!
I used to get almost ALL shorts in the bay and had to go into the ocean for keepers.
Silly Lilly sells frozen bait and sometimes, live bunker!
"Don't go into the inlet", is what they always tell you.
A 14' craft went over just a couple of days ago.
It's safe in the bay.
Blues, bass and fluke are there.
Near the inlet rocks (on the bay side), you can anchor and catch Black Fish (in season), Trigger Fish, and Sea Bass.
Sea Robins, Spider Crabs, and Skates will also keep you busy!
Have a GREAT trip!!!!

My father and i advertised for Silly Lilly Fishing Station for a number of years
. Prior to that we avertised for Jimmy Devita of Skidmores
. Yes you can fish 3 to a boat. You will most likely be Fluking as you might run into a school of ****tails/Bass but you will not be able to follow any fast moving schools. Gary runs a great operation and will treat you right. As a side note the Crabbing is usually excellent out there. Just thought that i would give you another option.

Let Gary advise you on what area is producing.

However, the area is not as important as having the proper tide. For Fluke you need the incomming/high/start of outgoing tides. I would suggest picking a day where the tide is high around 11:00-1:00. This way you get the most out of the best tides. fluke can be found all through the bay. Gary will know which areas have been producing the most keepers. Most of our best and biggest Moriches Bay fluke are taken while bucktailing. Use lite spinning/Baitcasting tackle, 10-12 lb test, and 3/8 - 1/2oz bucktails tipped with squid/spearing and you should do O.K.

We are going Sunday. Looks like high tide around 9:03am. I have had my best fish on the north shore using bucktails. Unfortunately my boat is out of commission this season and I have no luck on party boats. That's why I figured try something different.

High Tide at 9:03.

I would make sure that you get there early. You want to be fishing as early as possible in order to take advantage of the incomming tide. You should do well until at least 2:00- 2:30 when the tide gets too low/water gets too warm.

Silly Lily is a top notch operation. Gary Really knows his s***.

They are the only skiff rental station that actualy comes out on the water during the day with fresh bait, gas, ice.

Been going there for a very long time. Me and my old man used to bang the Winter Flatties years ago.

Fished Sunday. Fog kept us at the dock for almost 3hrs. When we did get out it was very difficult to find anything. Not knowing the area and not being able to see land took us way of course. We wound up past buoy 30, and all we had to do is go straight accross the channel. Anyway, we had an awesome time. When the fog somewhat cleared in the afternoon the whole area looked as it does on the map. In the fog the area looked huge. I caught one keeper on my first drop, and another later on. 20 3/4 & 20 1/2 exactly. When passing the coast guard station on the way in an officer asked us if we had any keepers. What do you know, he showed up at my truck and measured the fish. Definately doing that again. Great day on the water.
