But, before you answer that, remember that the summer Olympics has volleyball and beach volleyball and we'd be depriving ourselves of some wonderful sights like Francesca Piccinini of the Italian teams...

NO

Keep politics out of the olympics. It is not fair to the many athletes who have been training years for it... some people have way too much time on thier hands. Block the torch route? Come on get a life and let the games be just that, games.

I agree with LIRI. Wait a minute, how's that possible?

And Hillary is an opportunistic idiot calling for Pres Bush to boycott the Beijing games due to Tibet. So....we don't attend. Does anybody think China will give a rat's *ss? What will it solve except to deny US athletes to participate in world competition?

speaking of Hillary, the Titanic anniversary is Mon. Spend a few more million, Senator.

The 1980 Moscow boycott was the end for Jimmy Carter, one-term president. Bush doesn't have that problem and doesn't care what people think about him - but it's not fair to the athletes that have trained for 4 years. Politics should be left out of the Olympics, but it's an international stage so that's next to impossible.

THANK GOD!!

As for these olympics, no, I don't think Bush should boycott the opening ceremonies. The olympics is one of the things that is supposed to bring the world together, not be a tool to stir up the pot.

Well, I certainly don't think we should boycott the Olympics, but maybe we should not send the President to the opening ceremonies?

but again I ask.....will China really give a rat's tail? Maybe Bill Clinton should step in and use his influence with those Chinese bankers and businessmen that he played Let's Make a Deal with back in the day

We should be nice to China. They are going to own us soon anyway, might as well start kissing up now...

Ask the Chinese how protectionism is working for them too.

Chinese protectionism? Every multinational company I know is either in China or going into China big time. Make me wonder who is going to own who.

When I first read this post , I was thinking of saying yes until you reminded us of the beach volleyball :)!

I lived in SoCal for about 9 months and went to some of the AVP tournaments, the players are in amazing shape, not an ounce of fat on any of them.

Great sport too, the events are alot of fun.

Some strategically placed fat is not IMHO a bad thing.

I think you just punctuated my point and don't even realise it ;)

Dennis Miller was asked that question on O'Reilly's show last night and I thought he had a good response. He said that we should not boycott but have all the athletes come together and wear red Tibetan monks robes during the opening ceremonies. It would embarrass the Chinese and the athletes such as those below would be able to compete.

Are you kidding.Bush cant decide which to do kiss the asses of the Saudis or the Chinese.Maybe the saudis have some athletes going to the olympics and he can do both at the same time.

Without theos Saudis you'd have a long walk to work and winters would be mighty cold! I'm not fan of them, but they at least understand the economics and they don't want to ruin the economies of the rest of the world.
