I am thinking of buying a 10 ft 2pc. Lamiglass / Ron Arra XSRA1203-2

2 pc because I need to put in into the back of my car, then walk it to the beach.

The beaches I fish 90% of the time are in New York City. I am not much of a jetty hopper, mostly I am in waders or a wetsuit. I throw an assortment of plugs, tins, soft plastics. I busted a St.Croix last season (don't ask) but I wasn't really in love with it either as it felt stiff and somewhat heavy. My other rod is an 8-ft loomis that is super fast and light, but really isn't long enough for the surf. One nice thing about where I fish is that you have a bay (Jamacia Bay) and ocean surf less than 1/2 a mile away. The lighter rod works great in the bay with schoolies, albies, snapper blues and fluke, but I would like something that is longer and able to throw 1-2oz plugs and could handle a good-sized striper.

I love to cast the loomis. I never loved casting the stcroix. I would love another rod that is a joy to cast.

The other rod I am considering a 10ft loomis. There are some new Tsumani rods that look amazing as well, and are probably cheaper. The prices of the arra & loomis and daunting are already, so please don't suggest a custom because I am never gonna get that kinda coin.

Also any advice you can offer to keep the wife from finding out or How do you hide a new 10 ft rod in a compact car?

I believe those "Beachmaster" lamis were a special run done for or sold by a local discounter. Never saw them before or ever again. They were not the GSB or Arra series rods or blanks which also are covered by great warantees. I've got a bunch of surf lamis and they have great fishing performance. They're very light, load easily with a wide range of lures, cast well, have the sensitivity to detect a subtle hit, they can set the hook even at long distance, have good mid range power to overpower a fish runnin' in current... A good fishin' rod has to do many things well not just cast.

There's lots of reasons why the lamis are so popular and command higher prices. It ain't just hype. Made in the USA too.

10' Surf Rods

I am no rod guru; but I will share what I know!
As short as possible
I started surf fishing with My Fathers 12' ugly stick (old school)that thing almost put me in the hospital the first time I went to Montauk; casting for most of 10 hrs.
The following year he upgraded me to the Lamiglas; Whole Different World. Threw plugs all day, fought fish, left (fishless) feeling like a MAN[/b. Thinking (this is what I need to be in the GAMEto feel Confident and Score whenever I step to the court( YAH A DREAM). THE WAKE UP CALL; THE PRICE OF THAT THING. So I ask Dad for the Ugly stick and start to workout. Then I see this Ugly stick custom Surf Rod. Looks Gooooood, Thin, Light, 10'MH, Nice Flex; grab a lami and start to compare; just a little heavier, sold! Used it for a season and Liked it but was not in love, and couldn't get the distance I thought I should with this rod(technical ,I know) just not comfortable. Needed a rod for bait( Starting to get focused )so after months of research and trips to stores I chose a Tsunami 10'6" convictional ( Comparable on all points but Price)! Loved it, in every application, Beach, piers, jetty, Walls, even Plugging on occasion. Now what to do about this ugly stick; put up for sale and start looking for something else Maybe a 12' Tsunami Just for plugging ( remember the FOCUSS MANNNN!!!) research is pointing back to TSUNAMI, but now they have been circulating and all reviews are the same ( bought it for the price, bought another one because it is great!). Then I see the AIR WAVE ( NEWES LATES ) on there web site. All the new Fish Fighting Technology You or anybody could want $140.00 Plusss tax S/H. oh well; not doing it. Get $80.00 for the Ugly stick an go to the local B&t (Capital 132 w 36th, nyc)and there it is in the flesh (still in the plastic, in the box, untouched by human hands; since it left the factory) THE AIR WAVE! 12' SPINNING. . .I have a Penn 704z Bailess to complete the arsenal and have never been happier fishing; on the 10'6" I have a Calcutta 400c (old model; due to be upgraded) and CHUNKING OR PLUGING TSUNAMI ARE MY GO TO RODS BECAUSE THEY ARE GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUY the Lami, on line you can score one for about $200 with shipping, try Tackledirect. Yes they are worth the money, quality through-out, and life time warranty. I know some guys who have their Lami for 20 years, will a Tica or Tsunami last that long?
