Shimano Thunnus 12000

I'm looking to get a surf set up i can use in for various scenarios. I was thinking that the Shimano Thunnus 12000 with its baitrunner feature might be a decent choice. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on this. I plan to use at Jones Beach with a 10foot rod for blues and stripers using 1-4 oz lures as well as eels and cut bait. Does this make sense or should i just select a different reel for each.

thanks

5600L live liner

Been useing one for over a year now and cant say anything bad about it, more compact design than the shimano (big and goofy) and the shimanos have the automatic feature to lock the bait runner feature, which I find annoying when I just want to take up some slack. If you go for the penn you will be happy and it works very well as a cast and retrieve reel if you want to throw plugs. I converted some friends over from shimano just by letting them use my penn live liner.

Good luck!
