Im new to surf fishing and was wondering if the Shimano baitrunner 3500 reel is good to use on a 10ft rod for surfcasting. Im really not sure what makes a good surfcasting reel.
no reel likes being dropped in sand
even zeebaas and van stahls
i recommend the 4500
i think the 3500 is a little small for surf
i have all the baitrunners 35,45,65
and the 45 is my wokhorse

I agree, 3500 is too small. Should be good for catching snapers. I myself own a 4500 & 6500. I find the 6500 too heavy. Meanwhile the 4500 is perfect for everything.
i think for the money they are great reels I have the 6500 and i think its great...bit heavy but im leaving that reel in the holder anyways....the 4500 would be the way to go for all around use
The baitrunner is great for using bait in the surf. I have the 4500 and never had a problem. Great reel!
